The Year of the Elephant

A very long time ago, in the year 570, a powerful king named wanted to destroy the Kaaba — the holy house in Mecca. He gathered a huge army and brought a giant elephant named Mahmoud.

The people of Mecca were scared and went to hide in the mountains. The Prophet's grandfather, , said that Allah would protect His house.

And that is exactly what happened! Allah sent thousands of small birds into the sky. The birds dropped tiny stones on 's army, and the Kaaba was saved!
